Don’t Forget to Breathe

“Don’t forget to breathe”, my friend Michelle reminds me jokingly, as she guides me and other coworkers through a yoga stretch. I never thought a year ago that I would be learning stretches in a gorgeous yoga studio, inside my office, in Pacific Heights. Life is unpredictable, but I’ve always been one to savor a great opportunity. Working at RethinkCare has been nothing short of atypical. The usual aspects of a tech company: the confusion, the miscommunication, the lack of fundamental clarity… they don’t exist here. RethinkCare is a place of collaboration, of learning and big ideas. This environment breeds atypical people, in the best way. My coworkers at RethinkCare are not driven by a job that pays the bills or the general prospects of start up life in San Francisco. They are driven by the desire to be part of something truly revolutionary.

It’s always been said that a positive, empathetic and compassionate team works the best… but when was the last time you saw these qualities in practice? Here in San Francisco we hear the words sleep-deprived, unappreciated and overworked far too often to describe working conditions. It has gotten to a point where the issue can’t be swept under the rug. Current practices do not work. In fact, the problem gets worse with growth.

Enter the concept of mindfulness.

I had heard about mindfulness practices in the past, but I never realized what kind of need there was for a scalable digital mindfulness solution until I was introduced to RethinkCare. RethinkCare is addressing the issues of anxiety, stress, depression and performance all in a simple and easy to use way; with emphasis on accessibility. I’ve seen first hand what the need is within the corporate world for mindfulness, as well as the staggering demand.

RethinkCare is comprised of people with drive for a solution, who aren’t afraid to create new strategies and exceed expectations everyday. I come into work inspired not just by the mission of restructuring the way companies work, but by my coworkers who never cease to do amazing things.

I wouldn’t hesitate to say that the age of mindfulness is underway right now, and with a team like the one at RethinkCare, you can take a deep breath and know that everything is gonna be alright.
