We asked that on a recent webcast with sleep expert and Whil’s sleep advisor, Dr. Jeff Durmer. Here’s what we found (not surprisingly)…

It’s obvious that everyone knows sleep is important. But do you know how serious sleep issues are for so many people? Poor sleep has become an epidemic concern in the United States. Roughly half of the American population are struggling with sleep problems derived from some combination of stress, lifestyle and clinical conditions. Yikes.

Even employers have begun to recognize the corrosive effect that poor sleep has on performance, health and decision-making. It’s gotten so bad that many are responding by offering initiatives to help their employees sleep. They’re providing the tools they need to relax and remove the barriers, both mental and medical, that prevent restorative sleep. Even if it means encouraging “sleeping on the job” a little in nap pods or meditation rooms.

Dr. Durmer spills all in our most recent webcast with FusionHealth on why wellbeing greatly depends on sleep and what companies can achieve with a well rested workforce.

In the words of John Steinbeck, “It is a common experience that a problem difficult at night is resolved in the morning after the committee of sleep has worked on it.”
